I was left on my own, worked out great, planned all my excursions to the lake district, ate when i wanted, slept in the day, if needed. Bike was safe in car park. En suite room. No complaints 5* cleaner was friendly, too!
The lady on reception and kitchen duty was very helpful. Big room but the bed was sooooo soft.

Great location and quiet
Lots of bad reviews about this place, it is im a run down looking building
And pub coffee shop were shut
But lady on the phone was lovely
The room was massive , nice bed and clean
Very quiet location
Its a little run down and needs a bigger tv
But great location
We enjoyed our stay
Over night stop over.
Quick checking in, lodge and Brassiere in a good condition, staff were very helpful and friendly. enjoyed are evening meals, very easy to find.
But the car park could do with a little tidy up.
Our overnight was prior to Settle-Carlisle Railway, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time - bar, restaurant and lodging were all great. The guestrooms in the building behind the brasserie were so quiet and pleasant. Emily served us on both arrival and departure and was helpful many times in between! She's so friendly and ready to assist at any point, and she made our stay a pleasure.
Better than expected. Spacious room lovely bathroom. Good variety of foods in continental breakfast. Delicious reasonably priced fish and chips for dinner. House wine surprisingly inexpensive and good quality. Staff lovely

Spacious family suite for a very reasonable price. The bathroom and bedding was clean. A little dusty in places. Corridors need a good clean and there was a boarded window. Check-in worked well but couldn't get hold of anyone before arriving despite using all channels via booking site, direct telephone number, text etc. Was concerned it didn't actually exist but it worked well for us.
This is a good B&B for people who are passing through. It is pretty basic but this is reflected in a very reasonable price. The service was ok but suffered from being understaffed. The young man on the bar was very friendly and gave us some good suggestions for local places to visit.

Large spacious room. Good continental breakfast. Thank you to Emily for her assistance. We did have a window in our room that would not close. Also the surrounding outside area around the car park requires some maintaining.
The lodge bar and restaurant was closed during my stay and I collected my room key by calling a number then opening a lock box. This was fine and no trouble.
The room was basic but clean and tidy with everything I needed, tea, coffee, kettle, milk, soap etc.
I was on my own for a one night stay and the location was great with plenty of parking. I travelled by motorcycle so it was to find plenty of things to chain it to.
Even with the bar closed there were plenty of places to eat and drink within a short walk and I found some cracking real ale and craft ale pubs with friendly locals.

The room was fine. There was a coffee shop and a restaurant. Neither of these was open at any time during our stay. There was only ever one member of staff on the premises. She was reluctant to be of any help at all. She made a point of telling us to go and eat/drink somewhere else. Won't be staying there again.

Very good sized room - but definitely the building and surrounding area were very 'tired' looking.
When we arrived to be absolutely honest we didn't think it was open.
That all said, the location was excellent (we used it as a stop-over travelling down from Scotland to The Midlands) and the staff we spoke to remotely were very friendly and helpful.
Although The County Lodge Brasserie wasn't open when we stayed, the Station Hotel (few minutes walk away) was a decent place to eat.
Overall, the location was decent value for money (but would be good to see weeds from guttering removed and broken windows repaired, then I think overall it would look far more appealing)
The communication was really poor. I only got an answer from the hotel on the day of arrival.
The emails were polite but the in-person customer service was not good or welcoming.
The lockbox is faulty and difficult to open, unless you rive it open at the bottom. There is a knack to it. You won’t be able to open it if you have arthritis or hand issues.
The general building is dingy. And rundown. One of the windows in the corridor had a wooden panel in.
The room we stayed in was one of the better ones, I imagine, but the mattress was extremely soft and old. Do not sleep here if you have a bad back or shoulders.
The main room was clean.
The sugars for hot drinks were from McDonalds!
The bathroom was not cleaned properly. There were bits of dirt and scum on the floor and bath panels. And around fittings and fixtures.
The water was hot and plentiful. Toilet rolls and toiletries were included.
No towels were provided. We had to ask for them the next day.
It is more of a hostel than a hotel.
No breakfasts were provided when we stayed.
It’s worth no more than £40 per night. I would never stay here again. It wasn’t a good overall experience.
Check is is self service key in a key lock which was fine. Lodge had broken/boarded up windows in corridor which wasn’t very welcoming. Room was clean but
Curtain hanging off
Tie backs for curtains gone showing paint and screw holes so not finished decor
Aerial on TV didn’t work. And very noisy early in the morning.
Pub itself we never saw it open ( I know it doesn’t say it’s a pub but that’s not clear from some of the pictures shown on site).
Sadly this place has started to look very unloved and shabby. The bar and dining in the main building still looks ok but does need a little tlc. However, the Lodge actually looks like a condemned building! The surroundings are full of weeds and the place in in dire need of some paint and repairs. The bedrooms initially didn't appear to bad, just a little dated..however we soon discovered several things not working including 2 x lights so it was very dingy. We also found out in the morning that the window that opened straight onto the side of the street was actually open slightly and it didn't have a handle to close it! Advised staff politely upon leaving and they were lovely and very apologetic.
This places sorely needs to some love, attention and updating if it is to survive.

Ok for two nights
Room was quite big which was great. Had all we needed. The condition was tired and bathroom is in need of an update. Wobbly tap, mildew surround, tiles coming off. Shower pressure was good. Two beds in the room, one mattress was fine, the other you could feel the springs. Dismantled it to add the spare quilt under the sheet for comfort and found stains on the mattress cover. There was a dirty towel left on the back of the door and a coffee cup lid behind the chair-more care needed when cleaning up. No toilet roll left. It was warm, adequate for our needs.
Clean and quiet area, ideal for an overnight stay.

The room itself is large but dated, and only 2 of the 5 lights worked. The lights beed attention from an electrician as one was hanging off the wall and is dangerous. The annex is run down, boarded up windows, blocked drains, overflows running, windows that do not fit etc.
Go elsewhere is my advice.
Best to find somewhere else.

Our room was clean but tired. The County hotel is not as it appears on the website. The hotel was closed, no dining , remote check in . Was Ok for our brief overnight stop but not longer.
