"Was disappointed about how there was no original art in this castle considering its history. All the canvas reproductions have it a rather fake appearance - one would get in Disneyland ……
Time to commission - at least- some contemporary artists to bring a sense of authenticity & while also patronizing young Irish artists…"
"Great friendly place! The only reason I have it 4 stars is due to no fans/AC, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal but we were in Ireland during a heat wave. Staff was so friendly, room was clean and we had a family room and it fit the 5 of us comfortably."
"Lovely B&B with really friendly, helpful hosts. Our room at the front of the house had a fantastic view, the breakfast was great, and we truly felt welcome."
"Beautiful large hotel with easy reach to Sligo town. It was previously a lockdown mental Institution but the clayton has turned it into a 4-star hotel with a restaurant and, spa and indoor pool. The only downside was that when we arrived in the room, the next room had young teenage kids playing football, and the noise was very off-putting as the ball smashed up against the wall. So we immediately went down to Reception and asked if we could be moved. The receptionist apologised and gave us another room, but when we got to it, it also had very young kids next door. We didn't go and complain as we knew they would eventually go to sleep, and they did, and we never heard from them again. The breakfast was good and warm, and the service was good. The staff were all very friendly"
"This place was okay. They were straightforward about the check in process, since they’re not staffed at the front desk. I did get extra towels when I asked for them, so that was nice. My kids liked the novelty of sleeping in a bunk bed. That said, the place needs some attention. A lot of things in the room were broken or didn’t work properly (bedside light, flush on toilet, tv, etc). The breakfast was pretty much inedible; we didn’t even bother going on our second morning there (but found a nice place within walking distance that was great). There was a playground outside the hotel that was taped up because it had failed an inspection. It felt a bit like a microcosm of the whole place."
