Milan Cathedral, better known as the Duomo, is one of the largest Gothic churches in the world. Its construction began in the 14th century and was not completed until about 500 years later. I had visited the cathedral twice but never climbed to its roof. On this last visit I had this privilege and the view you have is simply breathtaking: there are gargoyles, statues (around 3400) and 135 needles. The facade has several architectural styles including Gothic, Renaissance and Neoclassical. Also noteworthy are the bronze doors with bas-reliefs of city life and Our Lady. Inside, 52 huge columns support the entire structure. Among the statues of its interior I highlight that of Saint Bartholomew who is shown carrying his own skin.

A Catedral de Milão, mais conhecida como Duomo, é uma das maiores igrejas góticas do mundo. A sua construção foi iniciada no século XIV e só foi concluída cerca de 500 anos depois. Já tinha visitado a catedral duas vezes mas nunca tinha subido ao seu telhado. Nesta útima visita tive esse previlégio e a visão que se tem é simplesmente de tirar o fôlego: são gárgulas, estátuas (dizem que em torno de 3400) e 135 agulhas. A fachada possui vários estilos arquitetônicos entre eles o gótico, renascentista e neoclássico. Destaque também para as portas de bronze com baixos-relevos da vida da cidade e de Nossa Senhora. No seu interior 52 colunas enormes sustentam toda a estrutura. Entre as estátuas do seu interior destaque para a de São Bartolomeu que é mostrado carregando a sua própria pele.
