If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be daunting. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy hints for a worry-free start to your getaway in Booth. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and fireworks, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural-fiber clothing and bring a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Opt for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- The condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks is also recommended.
