We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Follow our insider tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and seeing the best of Busia before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a good read. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and gasoline, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight is as simple as your choice of clothes. Prepare for temperature changes by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin gets chilly. Shoes like sandals and heels are best left in your suitcase. Instead, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will appreciate it.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help lower your risk.
