Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Dayton escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an awesome flight experience is to pack ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and any vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic devices or a juicy novel. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, be sure to toss in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a clean T-shirt.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when choosing what to wear during your flight. Loose clothing is a wise choice, as are flat, closed-toe shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
