Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Drama escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favorite movies are some terrific options. If you intend to catch a few z's, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you step off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and objects that could harm other people, such as firearms and ammunition, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by donning layers, and opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes like sneakers.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To minimize your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
