No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will get your Eagle River vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a pleasure if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Go for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to bring a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lessen your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your legs and feet often.
