Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Farr escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are always good options. If you intend to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, drills, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
