Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organized. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Gap Mills vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a pain-free flight experience is to plan ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and any vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you busy, like some electronic devices or a good book. It's also a wise idea to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in breathable clothing and take a sweater just in case you get chilly. Always opt for well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the stilettos and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long distances is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help reduce this risk.
