Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Golmes escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and maybe a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and bring a sweater as it tends to get cool inside the cabin. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a wise idea.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another simple way to help lower your risk.
