- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and fuels, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to take a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
