We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as stress-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be speeding through airport security and discovering Koppies before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, your medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive goods, such as fuel and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Opt for flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your lower limbs often.
