No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well prepared. Take a peek at these handy travel tips that will get your Meilen vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, travel docs, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a laptop crammed with your favorite shows are always good options. If you plan to catch a few z's, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll arrive at your destination feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Layer yourself up in natural fibers and don't forget to pack a pullover just in case you get chilly. Opt for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are also a great idea to help reduce this risk.
