No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will get your Monieux escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an amazing flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic gadgets or a juicy novel. It's also smart to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, don't forget to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and pack a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin during long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long-haul is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To avoid this, make the most of every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another easy way to help minimize this risk.
