No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. We've made a list of handy hints that will help get your Wiseman vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a worry-free flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, boarding pass, cash and daily medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you occupied, like some electronic gadgets or a good read. It's also a wise idea to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, be sure to pop in toiletry items like a toothbrush, deodorant and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife lurking in one of the zippers of your hand luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive goods, such as fuel and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer up in natural-fiber clothing and take a sweater in case you get cold. Always opt for well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There are plenty of ways to reduce your risk. Wear compression tights or socks, stay well hydrated and keep your legs and feet moving. Walk the aisles of the cabin or try out some exercises in your seat.
