I liked the location - next to the intercity bus station. However, during the check-in, the staff was very rude. Almost scary - as he seemed very impatient that I couldn't get my information loaded for itinerary number in time. He was sighing and was talking with clenched jaw. I would not stay here again - felt scared.
very spacious room near the bus stop and terminals
The hotel is just 2 blocks or a few minutes walk from the Intercity Bus Terminal and just a road across the Temporary Express Bus Terminal. There's also a local bus stop around the corner. These are the main reasons why i booked the hotel.
Though , the area has several love hotels, most probably including this hotel , however, it doesn't feel weird. The checkin and checkin were the fastest i've ever experienced. No questions asked.
The breakfast was i think the usual Korean breakfast but more on veggies. I backed out as the food didn't look enticing. Good thing there's unlimited Maxim coffee and tea at the lobby.
The room was so big, especially the TV. it looks like a studio apartment for other hotels. However, some of the appliances weren't swiped clean from dust, like the hair dryer and hair straightener.
I'd still highly recommend this hotel for the location and prices, it's worth it.
We liked the room size, cleanliness and it was quiet for a good night sleep. Parking was easy as they offered valet parking for free.
However the free breakfast was poor. We understand it’s ok to have limited choices however we couldn’t help but notice the different, super obvious unfriendly attitudes from the serving lady towards us the foreigners compared to local visitors.
The soup was nearly empty when we got there (before 08:15 - closing time was 09:00). The lady did not do nor say anything. When we sat down and another local visitor went up to the breakfast bar, the lady quickly poured some soups from the neck kitchen with a friendly smile on her face. This happened twice to different local visitors in front of our eyes.
When I went up to request more soup politely speaking in my broken Korean, her gaze was like I was some unworthy dirty things that she reluctantly poured some soup for me from the kitchen. This is shocking!
Since the free coffee available only at the lobby (breakfast was at B1), we used our tumblers (to save paper cups) which was told off by the guy receptionist, saying only 1 cup only.
Fair enough! We took our 1 paper cup coffee and as soon as we left.. we saw him keeping all the remaining coffee sticks in the cupboard. I guess he must have scared we would have scooped all the cheap coffee sticks. *rolling my eyes*
We did not know what prior bad experience they had with foreign visitors but this racism is intolerable.
A reasonable choice if priority is to be near express/intercity bus terminals. Restaurants, coffee shops, and plazas around. City Information Booth outside Intercity Bus terminal was very helpful, reasonable English. Pointed out all the necessary bus stops. Hotel is not far on the other side of this more happening corner.
Hotel to downtown area is about 20-30mins bus ride. Multiple buses possible but going anywhere of interest requires bus. Good for a short business trip; for a longer tourist stay, maybe better to be situated nearer to city centre.
Korean styled breakfast, tasty and good choice selections. Available between 7-9am; would have liked it to stay open a bit longer. Cans of Korean juice, bottle water at lobby. There was popcorn machine; yummy, but only available one night. Also popsicles but just a few stragglers left; maybe because was winter. Room was a double; was spacious and clean but quite sparse on the decor.
A number of massage parlours in front/behind with what might be a night club in the back. Was always quiet when I got back so didn't bother me. There's a 7-11 convenience store as well for easy top-up of bus card.
Great value for the price. Drain in bathroom was funky as it is remodeled hotel but everything worked well. Free wash and dry, free popcorn, drinks, ice cream. Breakfast was Amazing.
Friendly Staffs, Very Satisfied for the free breakfast, Clean and Nice Amenities.
But, lights remote controller was not working. That’t it.
I recommend this hotel to stay for your trip and I will stay again.
The hotel had everything we needed for our night stay in Cheongju. Clean, big room, big western bathroom and a lot of extras like a bar with water, breakfast, desk with work station even a monitor and good products.
We needed to change our booking and the communication with the hotel was a bit difficult since neither we, nor the hotels.com team could reach the hotel and the receptionist didn’t speak a word English but it all worked out in the end and we are very thankful for the help from hotels.com.
