The hotel was in a great location, close enough for shopping, dining and nightlife. Although the room was clean, as in bedding and bathroom, the room itself was very tired and in need of updating. It served its purpose of a last minute overnight stay, but probably wouldn’t stay again at that price while its in its current state. Staff were polite and friendly.

The staff at reception are so kind and personable. The room we booked was spacious and clean. It is a bit dated in areas but nothing you wouldn’t expect for such an old building. Bed was comfortable and coffee/tea tray was lovely. Walkable to every attraction you would want to see, as well as shopping and restaurants. Recommend!

Great location. Small room with no view, A/c units directly outside the frosted window. Room was very warm, so had to open window and use fan (shame about the ugly view). Room was ok, dated decor but clean. Front desk staff were very pleasant.

The property is conveniently situated in Chester. However, the restrooms near the reception area were unclean upon our arrival. The room was satisfactory, but the walls displayed significant cracks and could benefit from refurbishment.

Lovely place. Faults can be forgiven
The hotel is beautiful. Unfortunately it is in a busy part of town meaning you can hear people leaving the pubs/clubs late at night. Due to the age of the building it was hard to get a flow of fresh air so everywhere felt too hot. But the room had air con. The staff were lovely and friendly. Unfortunately the breakfast wasnt ready on time so once we got into the dining area the 1st serving of food was gone in seconds. They ran out of cooked food, bread and plates quickly. The staff looked stressed but remained professional and friendly. Although there were a few faults we loved this hotel and would definitely stay again

Very disappointing
Great location! Hotel looks nice from outside and in the foyer with large staircase. However on arrival a woman was asking for a different room due to smelly toilet. In our room the toilet wouldn’t flush and the aircon had leaked all over dressing table and electric lamp! They sent maintenance up who fixed toilet and aircon and stood lamp on the floor. We popped out for an hour came back and aircon was still leaking. Needed aircon as warm room and window wouldn’t open. Asked to be moved. Given room where window opened and no air con. Looked onto brick wall. Bath had black marks in and dirty round plug and mouldy shower screen seal. 1 bulb out of 3 worked on ceiling light and one bedside light worked. Breakfast ordered in restaurant didn’t arrive told it had been forgotten, arrived as wrong order and barely cooked, sausage was still soft, sent back then came back cooked but again not what we ordered. We were approached by a woman in the restaurant about the standards and her dirty room and she won’t be returning. We asked for a refund as we were appalled by the whole experience. We were given refund receipt but told it had to go to Expedia to send a refund in up to 10 days. Nothing happened. Hotel insisted Expedia had been informed, I phoned Expedia who weren’t aware of the refund so they phoned hotel while I stayed on the line to confirm refund and then had to wait up to another 10 days. We definitely will not be returning. My advice just book a travel lodge!

Do not stay here if you want to sleep!
ChatGPT To start, we were given a room with a wobbly bed and a non-functional TV, so we requested to be moved. After about 30 minutes, the hotel relocated us to another room with a city view (avoid this room!). We were kept awake until midnight by a busker with a loud sound system outside. The hotel has not invested in proper soundproofing, which is desperately needed. Although the windows are listed, they could install double-glazing internal windows instead of the current thin, flimsy ones. This is, without a doubt, the worst place I've ever stayed. Do not stay here. Additionally, the hotel is completely outdated and in dire need of a major renovation.
