Being able to return from a day on the windswept rainy coast to a warm fire and a glass of wine and being able to sit in the early morning in the cactus filled sun lounge looking out at the water made this a magical and welcoming place to stay.

The Ardagh is a lovely family-run hotel just outside the main streets of Clifden. We were welcomed warmly by the desk staff, and given cake and milk upon arrival (yum!). Beyond our comfortable room, there were several other shared spaces to hang out, including an upstairs alcove with lush plants and a gorgeous view of the water. Breakfast was great as well. It is a great alternative to staying right in town - we were happy for the quiet!

It has a spectacular view of the water. Wonderful indoor spaces for relaxing, enjoying a fire, and socializing. It is family owned and run, creating a sense of ease and familiarity. Very close to beautiful beaches, and Clifden. As well as Connemara mountains.

Both good and bad

The hotel itself was beautiful and the food was nice in the restaurant. But when the staff had done some mix ups they couldn’t even say sorry and try and make it up which was very odd and unfortunately made our experience less enjoyable. They did not have conditioner in the rooms for the hair which was very weird for trying to be a more high end hotel.

This is one of the loveliest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Beautiful property, big enough that it doesn’t feel awkward to run into people, small enough that it feels personal, very kind and attentive staff, high-quality breakfast with many choices (tiny complaint: coffee is a bit weak and it would be nice to have espresso options—I ended up getting a second coffee in town each day after breakfast), comfortable bed, nice shower, amazing solarium and “extra” spaces outside room, quiet, nice mix of guests. Some families with kids but generally a pretty quiet and slightly older clientele. Sooo clean and well-maintained!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and will suggest it to anyone I know coming to Ireland. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Dieses Hotel ist etwas ganz besonderes! Die Einrichtung ist der wahnsinn. Es gibt eine Indoor Terasse, welche voll ist mit Pflanzen und zum verweilen einlädt, denn die Aussicht ins Grüne ist absolut fantastisch. Das Personal ist äussert freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Ich würde es jederzeit wieder buchen und meinen ensten Freunden empfehlen. Auch das hat eine wunderbare Aussicht. Es gibt Tische am Fenster. Das Rindsfilet war der absolute wahnsinn! Es ist etwas ringhörig, weshalb ich für geräuschempfindliche Menschen Ohropax empfehle. Wer Helligkeit nicht mag, sollte eine Augenmaske mitbringen, denn die Vorhänge dunkeln nicht zu 100% ab.
