Historical Hotel: 5-star

I love the medieval vibes of the hotel, and upon research, the hotel has been in service since the 12th century. I love the location and its proximity to public transport and tourist attractions. The staff were also lovely.

Great little place, huge by Europe standards, clean functional convenient. Was quirky, dark, but definitely filled with character and atmosphere look forward to staying there again next conference in Cologne

Property photos look much nicer than actual hotel. Hotel felt more like a nice hostel. Located next to exotic shops and cinema. Nice weather during my stay so not having air conditioning was not too big of an issue. Restroom plumbing had a poor smell. Accommodations worked but I think it is overpriced for what you get.

Unknown to us, the bed was infested with bed bugs. Completely ruined our stay in Cologne. Although the reception staff were very sympathetic, the manager/owner could not care less about our grievance.

I have no complaints at all about the cleanliness of the hotel, the staff or the buffet breakfast. My only complaint was that the room sound proofing wasn't as good and I could hear the conversations of the people on the street at 03:20 while trying to get to sleep. Otherwise, it was a perfectly pleasant stay

Breakfast was ok. Also the cleaning. But we had to shut the Windows because of the noice. Banking on doors all the time. I know that the street was full of sexshops. It is okay for us but not when it goes into the hotel.

Good value, location, service,Get what you pay for

This is a heritage hotel, offering good value, a convenient location with a helpful staff. When I had an issue with a third party booking company, they assisted me in resolving it. For those with reasonable expectations, it is an excellent choice. After reading the reviews, those that were disappointed were not very grounded in reality and expected the experience of a brand new hotel, which is unreasonable. For example, many people were complaining about the lack of an elevator ignoring the fact, it is an older building that cannot easily retrofit an elevator into. The location is central and some of the businesses nearby may not appeal to some, but this is not in the hotel’s control and they provide a safe and clean environment. I would stay here again.

A full account of our stay.

Checking in in the evening the young man was overly helpful. The room did NOT look like the pictures, the carpet very dirty as was the one chair in our room. The bedding an towels nice, but we both rolled to the middle, old bed. Breakfast nice as was the morning staff. Also NO Wifi the 2 days we were there! They said…working on it?

The staff was very sweet and welcoming. Very positive attitude despite the people checking in, in front of us being very difficult. No letting it out on others just very patient and friendly and professional. Wish I could have gotten her name to give the best word on her. Carpet is a little worn as well as some smudges on the walls here and there but you could tell it was from natural wear and tear. Otherwise everything was impeccably clean and the breakfast was very neat and filling. Would gladly stay here again. It was super convenient and walking distance from public transportation and cathedral was a 15 minute walk and you could stroll through the shopping strip or the old square on the way.

Schlechteste Unterkunft unseres Lebens: Kanalrohre undicht, daher Toilettenabwässer auf dem Badezimmerboden, Beleuchtung defekt, kein WLAN, Fenster aus dem Rahmen gefallen, Vorhänge heruntergerissen, Duschabfluß voller Haare, Teppich großflächig verfärbt, Lampenschirme verdreckt, schlechter Allgemeinzustand. Wir mußten 2 Tage in Zimmer #23 aushalten, da niemand an der Rezeption verfügbar war. Danach gab es ein neues (besseres) Zimmer. Unsere schriftlichen Beschwerden werden vom Management bis heute ignoriert, inzwischen wurde der Fall bei Expedia eskaliert. Erstattung: Fehlanzeige. Nie wieder. Achtung: Hotel liegt inmitten eines Rotlichtbereiches.
