Excellent hotel!!!
The stay in this hotel was excellent and I have to thank the staff for making our stay very comfortable. The food was superb and the pool was impeccable. The rooms were very clean and well kept. This hotel is probably the best we stayed at during our vacation in Sri Lanka because of the staff. I highly recommend staying here!!!

Athena Lake provides comfortable accommodation, a terrific staff, nice food and wonderful pool near Dambulla. It is a good base for visits to ancient sites (Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Sigirya Lion Rock) plus safaris to Minneriya National Park, but is a little hard to find, along a gravel road. We loved relaxing at the pool after busy sightseeing but would have been happier if our roof was more brightly illuminated.

Nice Hotel for a quiet relaxed stay
Check in was done very smoothly by a courteous and friendly front desk. Actually, since there are only six rooms in this boutique hotel the staff are not overloaded and are very friendly and courteous. We never had an opportunity to complain.
The grounds lead down to the lake but one cannot walk right up to the lake because of the undergrowth. The pathway should be cleared up so that one can walk right up to the water's edge. A paddle boat would be a good idea as the remoteness of the hotel offers no other avenue to stretch one's legs except to take a walk to the village.
