This is a hotel in desperate need of renovation, but given the value for money, it is ok. Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is very basic. A typical cheap African hotel. I would have expected more from the pictures and description on expedia.
No hot water in my bathroom. Staff was very stubborn, saying there is hot water. 3 People had to come and check.... still no hot water! Internet was on and off. Bad service. Hotels.com customer service tried to help but failed get me out of there without paying for full accommodation.
The facility was terrible, starting from poor service. The rooms were not good, power outlets not working, a double room with utensils for a single person. The toilet was not maintained, the tiles were cracked and holding water witch was retained under the tiles. The room we got first was supposed to be a beach view but the balcony door was broken so we couldn’t use the balcony to see the beach. It’s expensive for no reason. Am sorry to say but this was the worst hotel stay I have had. Pricy with poor service
I booked and paid for a suite and they gave me a standard room and couldn’t compensate me for the difference.

Staff were great. They are managing a pretty old property. Breakfast was frugal but offers to help from the staff was nice. Pool water color didnt feel like I wanted to get in. But heard children splash in during the day.

Our experience at the Regency Park hotel
Our stay was good. However the hotel had not checked the condition of our room before we got there. It was very damp and lacked maintenance. We were moved to another room which was okay however the hotel in general requires regular maintenance.
Very nice room with great view. Good breakfast. Restaurant menu a little limited but fine. Nice pool and bar area although quite public. Wi-Fi not great on upper levels but view great. Staff friendly and helpful
THERE IS NO SAFETY LOCKER AMENTIES IS NOT AVAILABLE ON AFTER SECOND FLOOR, I FEEL. I JUST ASKED FOR SAFETY LOCKER THEY SAID ITS IN SECOND FLOOR ONLY. I TOLD TO SWIFT DOWN. ONCE I SWIFTED TO ROOM. THEY HAVE SAFETY LOCKER BUT THERE IS NO SAFE TO KEEP. BEHIND THERE IS BIG WHOLE IN SAFETY LOCKER & YOU CAN EASILY CARRY THE SAFETY EVERYWHERE. NO NEED TO KEEP THE PIN NO BEHIND YOU CAN INSERT YOUR HAND & TAKE THE THINGS.
Excellent value for money business hotel with pool
Back again to Regency Park - my go to business hotel in dar es Salaam. best value for money. Not swanky but excellent staff and they get the basics right - good aircon and beds, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Big change under new management an definitely on the up. Plumbing is typical African - showers leak a bit but bags of hot water - wash basin plugs not always there (just ask - one comes within 15 mins). Wifi above average for Africa but not perfect and again must better this trip (have they upgraded this as well). Definately got more pzazz and I expect refurbishing to start soon. excellent value for money especially single business rates.
regency Park is an moderately priced hotel in the business district of Mikocheni, with an added bonus of an outdoor pool to was away a hard days business. This is my go to hotel because of convenience. Under new management, it is definitely on the up seeking to cater for middle class Tanzanians and adding many extra features. The staff are brighter and perkier than before and I always rated them as friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit tired - showers occasionally leak and the odd wash basin plug missing, but a call to reception solves the issue, but key basics like comfortable beds, very fresh linen are all there. Wider range of eats and a lively outdoor cocktail bar with sports playing.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. But from the start, they were stating that there was no booking with them and that I had not paid. They informed me that they do not do business with Hotels.com - although they accepted that this was an issue that they would have to deal with. The room was 'fine' and did the job (as long as you ignored the mould in the bathroom), but if you expect breakfast, don't expect too much! Probably the worst hotel breakfast I've seen. Female colleague also had two men who supposedly work at the hotel enter her room at 11pm... wasn't a good start for her first night at the hotel.
Good value business hotel heavily used by NGO's. Very comfortable. Excellent bar area on top floor with sports TV's comfortable sofas and a fantastic view and small terrace overlooking the Indian ocean and setting sun.
Very good stay. new bar on top of hotel has excellent views and reasonable food. Hosts many development conferences and so is a value for money business hotel.
First, I arrived to the reception after the check in time and they asked me to wait 45 minutes to get a room. Normally not a big issue, but given that I was just arriving from a very long flight, it was annoying.
Second, the second morning I was having a shower and I had one of those "F...K" moments, when I realised they took the dirty towels, without putting any new towel at all. No towels, at all! They should have lest the dirty one at least...
Third, the cleaning ladies would come in the room without knocking at any random time... I woke up one morning with a cleaning lady inside once.
Fourth, I booked with Hotels.com and paid in advance. They claimed they didn't have "contract" with Hotels.com and I had to pay again, despite me showing the payment confirmation. I argued that I had already paid and the receptionist accused me of trying to cheat and called the manager. The manager starting shouting at me, arguing that I was cheated by Hotels.com and I had to pay them... I was locked 30 min in the hotel, as they wouldnt let me go, and the manager kept on yelling... Some other guests helped me, luckily, and I had to show my MasterCard account showing that the money was actually debited of my account... Needless to say, I didn't really feel confortable showing my master card expenses to a random, aggressive, hotel manager...
All in all, a bad experience.
