"In any other place, I would have given this 4 stars. However, given the shortage of reasonably-priced, top-notch hotels around the lake, my 5-star rating reflects what was available for Taiwan. The room was very nice, and the hotel was close to the bus station and to the start of the trails around the lake. "I have booked for 2 Quad rooms and a 6 pax family room. My family and I had a comfort stay at this hotel. Staff are friendly and hotel provide breakfast coupon for us which the breakfast is tasty and variaties of choices. The rooms are clean and spacial. Easy food hunting within a 5 mins walking distance though it is located at small street. Will choose to stay here again if I had a chance back to Puli."

"Stayed in the Deluxe Villa, Lanai in April 2023 and paid $577 US for one night. This was their premium suite. The space was impressive at nearly 2,000 sq ft. Had an old-world feel. The view from the outdoor pool area was magnificent. But anyplace with a balcony that high up would have magnificent views. So no points there really. While impressed with the size of the space, I was very disappointed with simple comforts you would expect for paying nearly $600 for one night and quite upset...

"Just had a wonderful stay at Xianal Vacation Chateau (夏內爾渡假民宿). It was just a piece of paradise among the strawberry fields. It's just off the busy Taiwan Route No 3, but the noise level was not a concern due to good sound insulations. It's also a short drive to the town of Dahu for a nice meal. "Rooms are big but dusty. Bigger rooms have air-conditioning but smaller rooms do not have air-conditioning, and rely on the cool air in the evening. Therefore have to open windows. Bath tub available, but each guest is provided with only a small packet of shower gel/shampoo packet. So you can only take 1 shower a day, unless you bring along your own shower gel/shapoo. Breakfast was great if you like asian food. Coin-operated laundry is available, but not commercial types. Did not see any dryer...

"We only stayed for one night in the biggest room (3 adults and 3 kids). When we opened the door, everyone was so excited, the room is big and comfortable, I love the style (designed by the host). They also provide the clay/ hand made pottery lesson and DIY pizza for guesses, we all had so much fun with the lesson. the host are very kind and friends, I will bring all my family and go back again soon."

"Room is quite small so we couldn’t really open up our luggage. They only provide one type of wash for use on both hair and body. Be sure to bring your own hair shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast is very basic and we actually skip it. Staff is friendly. We stayed one night at the accommodation right next to it called Top Cloud. We think it is more value for money as the room is better and breakfast is better. "

"This place was so difficult to find and get to because it is located in a very narrow alley. Parking space was extremely small. The owner's attitude was rude! on top of that the bed size was wrong. The owner told me that they never had a king size bed. the information online was false!! the room is tiny as well. Please do yourself a favor and DON'T book here. "

"I liked how it was very tranquil. The evening concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful when I told her I wanted to see the sunrise. She arranged everything with an external contractor. If you’re also arriving late, they have restaurants that can come and transport guests to and back to hotel - especially when the roads are dark and winding at night. "

Incredible, unique, recommended but a bit rough.

"The grounds are absolutely spectacular. Incredible, world-class gardens, village charm, and a true cultural experience. The ambiance is incredible. The staff was also amazing. One staff member was a particularly great English speaker, and throughout the day, she would proactively check on us and offer recommendations or help. Other staff wasn’t as good with English, but were incredibly genuine and caring, and the language challenge was nothing a translation app couldn’t overcome. Rooms were spacious and super unique adding to a beautiful cultural experience. However, the bathroom area had no fan or dehumidifier and had a mold problem. Plus, no daily housekeeping, led the room to smell musty and unfresh after a day. The food was all vegetarian. The lunch restaurant is only open on the weekend and is super high quality and not an issue. But the main restaurant felt more like a vegetarian camp buffet. You need a car or (cheap) taxi to visit other villages in the area for other food options, which is fun, but better if it wasn’t as much of a necessity. I still recommend to most who aren’t too persnickety and looking for a unique cultural experience, but I think you’ll find that the village has amazing potential to be a super unique, luxury, yoga/zen/Taiwanese retreat, but it doesn’t quite deliver all around to command a solid 5 star review. For us, pricing was fair, but if they round out the experience, could charge a good premium."
