This spot is a pleasant place for a stroll around some well maintained paths although it’s not particularly extensive. There’s a pond which can attracts birdlife although with changing times it’s regressing to more of a prairie with occasional water and increasing vegetation due to natural silt intrusion. What is delightful about the preserve is the fact that it’s a little off the beaten path and therefore is not overly crowded while existing undeveloped next to a small shopping mall, car dealership and regular suburban homes. And it continues to be looked after by enthusiastic community volunteers.

This building has a bit of a history. It was built in 1926 and was the former Emory University railway station for passengers and freight. The present name which is “Dooley’s Den ‘The Depot’” is a reference to the Spirit of Emory - do a Google search for information on Dooley - and the building presently serves coffee. For some time in the 70’s and into the ‘80s the building was actually the location of the Emory Credit Union.
