"Our stay at Opal had some positives, but the check-in experience and overall communication were disappointing and set the tone for the visit. At arrival, there was confusion around our reservation and very little proactive communication from the staff. We weren’t clearly informed about what was happening, what the delay was, or what to expect next. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we had to keep asking questions just to understand basic details. Throughout the stay, this lack of communication continued in smaller ways—information wasn’t clearly shared, and we often had to follow up ourselves rather than staff anticipating needs or keeping us informed. To their credit, the hotel did offer some compensation (drink vouchers and breakfast), which was appreciated. However, those gestures didn’t fully make up for the initial experience and ongoing communication gaps. For a property at this level, I would expect a much more organized and proactive approach—especially at check-in, which is the first impression. With better communication and clearer coordination, this could easily be a much stronger guest experience."

"Nice hotel in a good location. Comfortable rooms. Thought the housekeeping staff were pretty lapse. Never refilled our coffees each day so had to keep phoning down to get replaced and also did not top up toilet paper etc - not what you expect of a hotel of this calibre. Overnight parking was pretty expensive too. "

"The staff and guests that stay there who some actually own timeshares in, we're extremely friendly. They let us check in a little early and everything was clean. I would definitely go back if I was ever visiting. Only knock I would have on the whole place with the oven. I think they had cleaned it recently and the product residue was left over and it made the oven smoke a bit but it was not a big deal. Overall very satisfied "

"Nice building. Good security and indoor parking. Nice area. Dog friendly. Some things were disappointing. There are two outdoor pools and a hot tub. Of these three amenities, only one of the pools was functional during our time there. The other pool and the hot tub were empty and the area around them was fenced off. The one working pool for a large building was always very busy. The advertising is also misleading in that the beach is about a kilometer (half mile) away. "
