Beautiful property, clean room, staff was friendly. Liked the fact that you had to have a key card to get on the elevator to the rooms. Would definitely stay here again if we get back to Canada and the Toronto area.

I stayed at RIU Plaza Toronto Downtown with my daughter and was disappointed with both the comfort of the room and the lack of respect for our privacy. There was only one chair for two guests. I have multiple sclerosis, so having somewhere comfortable to sit matters to me. I asked twice for another chair but was told the policy was one chair per room. We ended up playing musical chairs throughout our stay. Other hotels may only provide one chair, but often also have a settee or an upholstered bench with a backrest. There was no equivalent seating here. My biggest concern was a staff member attempting to enter our room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being displayed. I was in the bathroom when someone knocked, so I couldn’t answer. They then used a key to open the door, but thankfully I had the security latch on. When I opened the door, a staff member with a clipboard said she was checking that everything was okay. There had been no advance explanation that this might happen despite the privacy sign. As a woman travelling with my daughter, this made me feel very unsafe and uncomfortable. The location also wasn’t particularly convenient for us. Eaton Centre, the PATH and the TTC subway were further away than we would have liked, although we accept that we should have researched this more carefully before booking. All in all, a very average hotel. The location wasn’t great for our needs, the room wasn’t comfortable and, most of all, we didn’t feel safe. We will not be stay
