It was beautifully designed and the view was great! (Worth the uphill climb and slight detour from the main shimanami kaido route!) Smooth and easy communication with the owner. Google maps location was accurate. Breakfast provided was decent. If you are staying in the property for more meals, bring more food along. Kitchen is well furnished. After being cramped in many Japanese hotels and ryokans, this was much much larger with three queen/full size beds, a 65" TV and an outdoor bath (mineral salts available in the lobby). However, please understand that as this location is very remote, dining options in the area and transportation may be limited. This may be why we didn't see any foreigners there? "The hotel was in a stunning location but far from any of the 3 convenience stores. They had their own on site but it was expensive compared to the others. It has the essentials but not much range. Walked 20 mins to a Lawson instead. We had a standard room which wasn't clean. There was dust on the ceilings, and mould on the bathroom ceiling, the bathroom was outdated. Good shower though. The Gym, Spa and Outdoor pool you had to pay extra for which you wouldn't expect for a 4 star hotel. ...

"The Knot is in a good location, but it is more dated than the pictures would suggest. We ended up changing rooms because our first room literally looked onto a wall of the building next door and there was construction going on. Our second room was bigger and had a window that actually looked outside, but the carpets were just as stained and old looking. The staff seem completely disinterested in their jobs, so it just was not the experience we were looking for. Just okay. Wouldn't recommend to...
