A very good hotel with an excellent breakfast and great amenities. The room we stayed in—located on the floor 0 felt a bit dated; upon entering, there was a noticeable stale odor. In the evenings, there is wonderful live music in the bar and a very pleasant atmosphere. It is an adults-only hotel, though I would say its 55+. I recommend it for a peaceful, relaxing getaway!

Hotel PortoBay Santa Maria is a gem. Location is perfect, right in a center of Old town, close to cable to the Monte Palace and Mercado. We had an ocean view, which was a nice upgrade. Breakfast has everything you can imagine with a very attentive staff and beautiful atmosphere. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Live music in the evening in a bar area. I would greatly recommend this hotel to the future visitors f Funchal.

Lovely breakfast menu. Same as with usual visits but with the addition of omlette station and improved toasters as well as make your own coffee machines. Our room had a view, both of the pool abd sae, including harbour. Nice new sun loungers and parasols. Plenty of choice i=on cocktail menu. Cocktails really well made. Lovely gourmet dinner menus

We stay at the Porto Bay twice a year and the breakfasts have never let the hotel down. Plenty of hot and cold choices including pastries and various fresh fruits. The stafff are wonderful. They're so attentive a you can linger as long as you want, over ample cups of coffee

Very friendly welcome and was also upgraded to a superior sea view room, which was clean and well-equipped, with a kitchen. Location was perfect at the quiet end of the front and close to the cable car station to Monte. Car parking in the basement was very handy and leaving it there after checkout was no problem. Breakfast was very pleasant and we also had a drink in the Captain’s bar outside later, again excellent service and a nice ambience. Would definitely book here again if we were staying over in Funchal.
