Rooms are outdated and definitely worn down. Stains on ceiling, walls, paint in bathroom chipping. Beds were seemingly clean. Turned on the heat as we were cold, and so much dust blew in the smoke detector went off for a several minutes. Front desk people, friendly checking in and short on business checking out. Breakfast was okay. Quite a variety, but typical continental style.

The hotel has new carpets and new paint. Other than that, it is VERY dated. It just needs a top to bottom update/cleaning. For example, the elevators have a glass window overlooking the street in front. Those windows appear as if they haven't been washed in years. Great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room had a whirlpool tub. The hot water control worked, but had been damaged previous to our stay and needs repair. The shower/tub enclosure shows serious signs of age. We had requested our room be serviced on a day we were out all day. It did not happen. The indoor pool/hot tub area is cute. The noise from the indoor water fall makes talking nearly impossible. Someone needs to hose down the indoor deck area daily to keep it clean. Breakfast is adequate. Eggs, biscuit, gravy, sausage, cereal, pancakes. Coffee service needs improvement. Providing larger, non-styrofoam, take away coffee cups would help.

The office staff was so nice and gave us suggestions on where to eat and what to see. The only trouble was parking was kind of difficult. I love the mountain view that we had.

Property is older and needs updated! Happen to stay while they were painting one of the two elevators so only one to use causing some longer waits. Pool should be cleaner! Great location.

Perfect for families with children! I am someone who really worries about roaches and safety at hotels so I’m always nervous when booking. This hotel was hands down fantastic to stay in! There was no sign of pests and the hotel was a very safe and convenient location. A quick walk to the aquarium and every other attraction and food. The pool and hot tubs were so amazing as well! I cannot wait to go back with our kids many times over.

This hotel was in an excellent location. Right in the middle of everything, breakfast was good, but average. Basically the same as other hotels. Parking is tight, if you have a large vehicle. You may not be able to use their Parking if you have a really big truck. I found the is hotel to be in need of a lot of updates. Overall, it wasn’t horrible… price was good. I would , if I had to, stay again.

Even though this hotel is many decades old, it was clean, friendly staff, perfect location, the breakfast buffet was awesome! We booked for three nights and enjoyed the rest so much we stayed another night. No it’s not the newest or the shiniest but my wife and I loved it. This is our third stay here over the past 42 years and we will be back!

We have been to Gatlinburg many time but this is the first time staying here. We loved it! It will be the only hotel we stay in here from now on. It is located right in the middle of everything and is still quiet. The sound of the water flowing was so relaxing and the pool area was great. The breakfast was pretty good also.

Don’t stay in a room on the left end of the hotel, we were in 502. The “haunted house” next door is noisy with obnoxious music playing until 10 pm. Then the last night they cut down a huge tree that almost fell into our room followed by a chain saw running until 9:30.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was kind, accommodating. Breakfast buffet had lots of choices and was restocked quickly. On the negative side , our balcony did look out at the side of a mountain, but the dumpsters and staff smoking area was right there,too. There were some unpleasant odors around the elevator and parking garage but maybe due to ongoing maintenance work? Overall, happy with our stay.

Overall, great stay at Edgewater. Would definitely consider staying again. We stayed in mid-April when crowds were fairly light so we didn’t really encounter some of the issues others have had with the hotel such as slow elevators or parking issues. Parking is a little tight as others have stated, but I was able to park my mid-size truck without any major issues on the main parking level. Maybe it’d be a bigger issue if it was packed but I still think it’d be fine. I parked next to a pillar so I knew at least one side I’d have more space. Pros: - Can’t beat the location. It’s a block off the main drag, but right in the middle of everything. You have relative quiet being off the main drag while still being well within walking distance of the middle of Gatlinburg. - Views are great from the riverside rooms. Definitely recommend spending a few extra dollars for a riverside room. - Breakfast was good. Same items each morning but it was good as far as hotel breakfast goes. - Pool is nice along with 2 hot tubs. Cons: - It is an older hotel and does show its age. Although it seems that improvements are being made if staying in a hotel that isn’t shiny and new is an issue for you then maybe look elsewhere but you’ll probably spend more $$ and not have as good of a location. - Bathrooms were small and show some age. Again, not a big deal myself but may be for someone. - Beds were a little noisy. Nothing major and didn’t really affect my sleep.
