The rooms are very old and definitely require renovation. We were unable to sleep comfortably due to the noisy operation of the air conditioning. The smell of dampness in the hotel corridors was unpleasant. It is quite poor that a hotel in this segment still lacks a coffee machine; if you wish to have coffee, you are obliged to heat water in a kettle and prepare your drink using small packets of instant coffee. The staff are generally friendly and attentive. The breakfast is quite good, with options suitable for everyone. If you plan to visit Georgetown city center, you should factor in a car journey of approximately 40 minutes.

There's not enough staff during the check-in process. Other than that, the resort was wonderful. Great staff, wonderful breakfast, nice Spa, happy hour from 5-7 pm in the lounge and you can walk to a nearby hawker centre for food. If you're traveling with adults only, I would recommend staying on the Rasa side (for the extra costs).

Lovely hotel, great location around an hour's drive from the airport, 30 mins by car from Georgetown, and around 10 minutes' walk to local shops and restaurants. Great grounds, facilities in the Rasa Wing are fab - adults only pool is fab, and the complementary afternoon tea and cocktail hour are well worth it! Rooms are lovely and well-equipped, management of the sunbeds means it's always possible to find some to settle in on, and staff are always happy to help you with anything you need. There are numerous places to eat at the hotel (food is great quality and a wide variety of options), but do check out the fabulous food market around 10 mins' walk away where you can get a huge variety of food at great prices.

Outdoor pool was good but many kids were jumping in to adult area pool and making lot of noise and splash. To order food in pool area took very long so we asked and system was not working properly as told. One staff mentioned we could go in to the pool with beverages but another one asked us to get out with the beverages as it was not allowed according to the rules so it was confusing to whom to follow.

The Shangri-La Rasa is truly a 5 star hotel. Overlooking the Malacca Straight, our room with balcony provided a spectacular view. Service is exceptional. The hotel’s Spice restaurant provided by far the best meals we had in Malaysia.
