Great North Woods, New Hampshire hotel rooms at the Independent

"Room was clean and spacious. King bed had nightstand and lamp on only one side. TV didn't work but desk clerk was able to get it going. Flimsy towels. No extras. Bed comfortable. "

"There are no amenities. The pool hasn’t been working for 6 years. There is no breakfast. One ice machine in main building. Do not recommend."

"Even during renovations, this is one of my and my wife's favorite places to stay. We've been there multiple times going back over the past 20 years. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Due to the renovations we were given a room upgrade that was beautiful. Staff were very helpful and responsive. The food was outstanding. My only regret is that people don't dress for an elegant dinner like they used to. My wife and I and one other couple were dressed for the occasion. But that's not the hotel's fault."

"This is our fourth time staying . It’s very convenient for us as far as location. The place is a little outdated, but the view from the gazebo in the back is gorgeous."
