A very comfortable and satisfying stay

We were in Guangzhou for 5 nights as a family with two children, so we booked the Oakwood Golden Arch instead of a city hotel because a serviced apartment gave us some flexibility with meal/washing arrangements, while the price/size was much better at the Oakwood. We were very pleased to find that were were upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment upon arrival and it was wonderful. Very clean and modern. Breakfast is available (it's convenient and edible, but not great) as well room service, but the kitchen was extremely well equipped so we cooked in there a few times. There are both a washing machine AND a dryer, which I needed to use regularly, and they provided washing powder too. The kitchen came with washing up liquid and the bathrooms had toiletries, so all in all we were much happier with this choice than a hotel. The service was very friendly, and when we had a couple of problems in the apartment (eg blocked toilet) they were sorted out efficiently. The TV had a handful of English channels. The local area is residential and parkland, but unfortunately there are no very nearby restaurants. However, downtown is a hop, skip and a jump away.
