"The Castle Hotel is an unpretentious independent hotel close to the train station in Berwick upon Tweed. It is in an atmospheric older building which was probably originally assembled from several attached buildings. The clientele was principally local, and the hotel had a genuine sense of place. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the Northumberland breakfast was very good. The location was an easy walk to the downtown and the historic waterfront."
"Good food at reasonable prices . Pleasant and helpful staff. Good position for visiting lots of places. We had an enjoyable few days there would definitely go again if we were visiting that area again."
"Excellent service from Marianna who welcomed us with a big smile and made us feel at home straight away!
We were upgraded to a room with a hot tub which very spacious, clean, and had everything you would need, including towels, slippers, dressing gowns, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and shower gel. Outside the room, we had a decking area with chairs and a table surrounded by lovely shrubs and flowers- super peaceful and quiet to enjoy stargazing!
Breakfast served at The joiners arms ( 5 mins walk) was more than adequate; you could choose from a selection of yoghurts, breads and pastries plus a choice of a hot breakfast. For one of the days, we had a grab and go- breakfast delivered to our room containing a carton of juice, hot sausage and bacon roll, yoghurt, water, fruit cereal bar and a piece of fresh fruit. This was very good as we could eat it on route for an early start.
The location was perfect- 10 mins walk to the beach and ships in was perfect.
Overall, we had an excellent stay and was a great base to see the main sites of Northumberland. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again."
"Mark is super helpful. The bed in the family suite was really comfortable and the breakfast was decent, included cereals, fruit, tea, coffee, fruit juice and the usual cooked selection with toast. The family suite room is well positioned and has sea views from both windows. Bamburgh is easily walkable from the B&B and there are dining options close by. We managed to park outside the property but there’s plenty parking further up the hill if needed. Imagine it’s hard to park at times. Wish we’d known about the benches overlooking the harbour at Seahouses, we’ll be back to enjoy fish and chips there at some point."
"Room was clean & contained everything we needed.
Had a meal in the bar which was excellent & fairly priced (compared to some hotels we've used on this trip).
Breakfast was excellent.
Will use this again when visiting the area again."
"Welcoming staff, Alnwick is lovely. Room large, clean with tea and biscuits- great. Standard pub food, leak and potato soup more mash potato, but gammon and chips nice. Good helpful service throughout"
