"The lodge is well located in the Hillcrest area, close to the Main Road with it's shops and restaurants. Bev the hostess was very welcoming and seemed prepared to go out of her way to assist her guests. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good. "The service is excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. The hotel is well maintained and the kitchen goes to a lot of effort to provide a variety for the breakfast. It is not the same as a la cart quality food but at least we didn't eat the same food for four days. The street can be quite noisy though during the night. They kindly upgraded us when there was a cancellation."

"It seemed the property was not ready for guests. The rooms and shelves were not very clean. The sink leaked and the bath drainage took a long time to drain. The stoves for cooking did not have knobs for turning it on. You could hardly see with the light in the bathroom when we arrived. The sofa was torn and squeaked. Linen & towels did not look fresh & clean (very old)."

"I used to use the Hilton in central Durban it now that’s switched hands I come to this one instead. Very safe to walk to the beach one mile away Walkable to the gateway shopping mall (700 meters). Staff excellent and very helpful. Lovely little well Maintained gym and outdoor pool area. Undercover parking for less than a few USD per night. Happy hour each night for three hours and awesome TV in room with loads and loads of domestic and international channels. Definitely well worth the money."
