The property was in good condition considering its age which was appealing to me. The housekeeping in the room could have been better. We had to ask someone to vacuum the room. When we left after being there almost a week, when we l checked around the room and under the bed to see if we had left anything there was a lot of “dust bunnies”. I don’t think they vacuum under the bed very often.

The idea that we were told we were getting a king size bed was false. Two beds pushed together do not give you a king size bed. It was very uncomfortable

Hotel was fine. Somebody was having very loud sex for a couple hours though. Like, this girl was screaming. Front desk had to be able to hear it, nothing was done about it. Paying for parking could be easier as well.

This property is old, and the rooms are small. Despite this, the staff do their best to keep it clean and practical. The room was pleasant and had everything we’d need for a night’s stay, however, the windows need to be updated and there is no AC to cool the room. While I give kudos to the people who made the room that clean, the bedsheets were soft and fresh, and the bathroom spotless, we got absolutely no sleep. We had to spend the whole night with the windows wide open to allow a flow of cool air. The location of the hotel is unfortunate, since the trains run 24/7 directly across, and add in the sounds of the busy main road as well. If we even had been able to sleep with the window closed, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. They are old, rickety, and are definitely not insulated. Thanks to the two restaurants/pubs located underneath the hotel; with patios, you can imagine what happens from 1 to 4 am as other guests decide to return noisily to their rooms. Thankfully, staff got them to settle down, after only an hour of screaming, thumping music, and smashing furniture. Hotel is nice. Don’t expect to sleep. Don’t even try to book this place any time in the summer thanks to the heat.

Accommodations were average, as was cleanliness. The only issue was a large patch of vomit right in front of the hotel entrance steps. We had to carefully step around it in order to leave and pack our bags into our vehicle on exit. Came very close to stepping in it. Hotel staff did not seem concerned about cleaning it up.

The bed was very soft & comfortable, but the room (#101) was incredibly hot. Tried turning down the radiator but that did nothing so we had to open the window. Then all we heard all night was the train. Not a lot of sleep was had by either of us. We have to stay another night in Jasper on our way home but we will look for something further back from the main road as too get some distance from the train.

The room is in good condition and clean. My room is on main road. It's so noisy. People come to the bar below the room, drink and talk so loud. We couldn't sleep until about 2am. We don't mind the train noise.

What a great spot for an overnight stay. Had lunch at George’s and it was excellent. Dinner at De’d Dog which was also excellent. Had a few rums with the locals. I would definitely stay here again

Though the Astoria is a little dated, its a great convenient place to stay. If you're a whiny and uptight person who needs silence, I don't recommend. Part of the convenience is having bar downstairs with some pretty great events, this means loud music and people. It would appear, during my last say there, that some people didn't have the intelligence to put this together and I had to witness some incredibly poor treatment of the wonderful staff that work there.

Amazing Spot
This hotel is in a great location right along the main strip at Jasper, plus it is 2 doors down from the best pizza at Jasper (jasper pizza). The pricing is super reasonable and parking is easily right across the street. The only down side as the single beds were a little shorter than i would have liked (as a 6'2 dude). But at the end of the day, a bed is a bed. Would 10/10 recommend

Friendly but not impressed start to finish
Staff were SUPER friendly. We were told that we paid for the first night but not the second night. the receipt I got from hotels.com said it was paid in full. Had to go back through my bank statements to see that hotels.com in fact only took half the amount out of my account, even though I picked the paid in full option. They said it happens all the time with Expedia. No parking on site. Only one flight of stairs to climb with luggage and ski equipment. Room was very small. We booked a king size bed but only got a queen. Decided not to say anything because I was already embarrassed about arguing that I had paid in full for the stay. There’s a small desk and a hanging rack, but no dresser for clothes, or even really an area big enough to leave a suitcase open without tripping on it. Bathroom is so small & there was a small standup shower, with a head too low to shower under. The water changed extreme temperature 5x within a 10 min shower. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Room was WAY too hot at night, had to open the window all the way, could not turn the heat down (December) and was still too warm to fall asleep. Hubby left for a walk mid day & told housekeeping we didn’t need them to come in (no do not disturb signs). I hopped in the shower and came out to a very embarrassed housekeeper in our room. Rooms were also not sound proof at all. Could hear people walking/talking etc clear as day from 6 rooms down the hall. Dogs barking in rooms were also not fun.

We got two rooms for our little family of three and ended up shortening our stay. We picked the hotel for its location, which is awesome. Other than that the hotel is dated, the heating would not turn off and opening the window was no option straight above the kitchen vents. The noise from the pub below continued to 130am. When we inquired the next morning the best solution offered was to put on air conditioning. We checked out and were made to pay for 2 nights. Staff was nice and could not help the constraints they were working under.

Cute room and very clean. We thought that we would have a courtyard view, however, we were placed in a different area as there was a Dj playing next door. That didn’t matter, we could hear the music and kids running back and forth in the hallway, slamming the doors.

This historic boutique hotel has friendly staff and comfortable beds. It's ideally located within walking distance to the VIA Rail station, Jasper Info Centre, numerous shops and eateries. However, there is no elevator, so be prepared to get a bit of exercise climbing the wide staircase. Keep your suitcase light!

They searched my room without my permission when I wasn’t in the room, as they suspected that we were 5 people sharing a one bedroom. As they saw me hanging out with my 5 friends outside the property. Even if they suspected, that’s fine, they could have called me when I was in room. And could have ask me to open the room and searched in a proper way. Their employee confirmed that the search happened. I asked them to check the cameras and if I am found guilty please back charge me as much as you wanted. Idiots running the hotel.

To begin, I would like to extend my apologies if you felt that our housekeeping staff overstepped their boundaries. Your concerns are important to us, and we take them seriously. It's crucial to emphasize that we do not conduct any unauthorized room searches. Our utmost priority is to ensure the safety and comfort of all our valued guests.It's worth mentioning that one of the routine responsibilities of our housekeeping department is to provide stayover services to all rooms unless a "no service required or Do Not Disturb" sign is displayed on the doorknob. Our hotel staff were merely carrying out their daily cleaning duties and had the proper authorization to enter guest rooms. They promptly communicated this situation to our front desk team, given the changes made to the mattress positioning in your room, and your request for extra bedding as well. Also, you booked a room with 2 Twin Beds, and the beds were pushed together with 1 of the mattresses being picked up and put on the floor without hotel’s permission which doesn't make any sense.I want to reiterate that we are not accusing you of exceeding the allowed occupancy in your guest room. Rather, it is a standard procedure for us to coordinate between our departments and, if necessary, with our guests. Notably, our front desk did not charge you any additional person fees nor did they ask you or your guests to leave the premises. Once we received your explanation at the front desk, the matter was promptly resolved and considered closed. Reviews are very helpful tools but only if used in a respectful & proper way and we will not accept any kind of disrespect for our staff performing their duties. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
