We stayed in the secret cave room for 3 nights and enjoyed every bit of our time. The room was beautiful, and incredibly isolated from outside noise. Room service was great as well. I’d strongly recommend this hotel to anyone in the area!

As a foreigner it was hard to communicate at the front desk. The room was spacious and clean.

Probably the best location in Shanghai. We also bought some stuff and they are delivered to the hotel and the staff are very helpful collecting them for us.

Excellent Stay!

Sept. 9–11, 2026 Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stay. We booked through Expedia and had a confirmed reservation, but when we arrived, we were told our room type was unavailable because the hotel was fully booked. They upgraded us to a suite, which we appreciated. The next day, however, housekeeping entered our suite while we were inside. I clearly remember locking the main door and was showering with music playing. The suite has a living room and a separate bedroom behind sliding doors. The staff member not only entered the living room, but also partially opened the sliding door leading to the bedroom and spoke to my boyfriend. Thankfully, he blocked the view and nothing private was actually seen, but I was literally in the shower. It was extremely uncomfortable. The manager suggested we may not have locked the door or used a Do Not Disturb sign. We specifically checked afterward—there was no DND sign, button, or other obvious option in the room. We only asked for a reasonable partial refund, not a full refund or excessive compensation. The hotel refused and offered an apology and a fruit platter. The suite upgrade had already been given because our original room was unavailable, so that was unrelated to this incident. To make matters worse, the fork that came with the apology fruit platter had visible stains/residue on it For a hotel near the Bund and Yu Garden, we expected much better service, cleanliness, and respect for guest privacy.
