We stayed only for one night. First of all, this is NOT a true hotel, but think of it more like airBnB. The property is located in a beautiful part of JoBurg, very safe to walk in the daytime. It's a house that is now converted into some rooms that they have for rental, my guess is that there are about 3-4 rooms in total that they rent out. There is a caretaker on the premise at night, but it's not really to provide guest services in any way other than true emergencies.
Good things: very charming, great price/value, great neighborhood, walkable to restaurants and close to Rosebank mall by Uber.
Not so good things: it's not a hotel, so the rooms have the previous inhabitants clothing, toiletries as well. It's clean but you may find an odd strand of hair here and there, so if you are squeamish about those things..... Also check in was a bit strange, there are no instructions, you get there expecting a sign that announce it's a hotel; and you see nothing but the wall of the house with the name "maison jacaranda", then you ring the doorbell and hope that South Africans don't believe in stand your ground laws, I would definitely get there and "check in" early in the day as I wouldn't have figured it out at night.
All in all, I really like the property and would stay there again as I am not squeamish and enjoy the charm.
