We stayed here at the end of our trip and it was the perfect place to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and listen to the sounds of the surf and birds. Seth, Nuala and David all made a point of stopping by to see how we were settling in and it was lovely to read the history behind the creation of the villas. Cannot recommend this place enough - would still be there if we could ☺️

Coastal getaway

Stunning coastline views the second you walk in. We loved this little cottage, overlooking the sea, rustic and full of character, that has been built with reclaimed timbers, old wharf beams and recycled windows, and so much more. Has a basic little kitchen and a BBQ outside, so we went prepared with easy to cook meals. You are a long way out of town, but that is what makes this bolthole special, it is quiet, with the roar of the sea just down the hill. Going back in the summer, for a different feel.

Unique property with architecture interests and cliff top view of the ocean. The sound of the tides has calming effect to put me into sleep and I loved that very much. The only very small thing is the water pressure of the shower is quite low.. but still highly recommended and I myself would love to come back to stay again

Lovely accommodation with spectacular views.

The accommodation was lovely, well equipped and with spectacular views of the sea and beach. The lack of air conditioning was however a bit of a drawback since this meant it was necessary to have windows open and then there were a lot of flies which came into the room. This seemed to be more of a problem on the day that the grass had been cut. Not sure if that's just coincidental or not. The communal fire-pit was a real bonus. Our hosts were happy to provide logs and we had a fabulous final evening admiring the views in front of a lovely log fire.

An amazing sea view from a charming villa.

My school friend and I, now 65, visited Ahu Ahu Beach villas for a chance to catch up on old times and to explore the Taranaki area. We were enchanted by the rustic style of the villas and the quality of the furnishings and linen. There is a window seat looking out towards the wide sea view where we sat and talked for hours enjoying the sunset and watching the bird life hopping around on the grass. It is a quiet, relaxing setting. It was a short walk down to the rugged west coast beach where there were few people, a lone fisherman, a couple walking their dog and some horse riders cantering along the sand. A great place to get together with friends and enjoy a special part of New Zealand.

Great two days

Not your usual motel unit. A mixture of old and new, second hand and new. Full of character. Kitchen well equipped and bed and linen all good quality. A great place to stay and relax for a couple of nights out of the city. Everything we needed and well worth the extra to stay here.

The only downside to our stay was that our time here was too short. This is a charming seaside villa with lovely owners. We were very comfortable and the villa is spacious enough for our family of four. Would love to go back.

Endroit de tout repos

Accueil chaleureux, site superbe, calme, construction rustique originale. Pour 3 nuits passée, je me suis souvenue de mes rêves de chaque nuit, ce qui est rare. Ce qui me semble t'il, est gage d'un habitat sain. ( pollution électromagnétique faible) Par contre un appareil pour les quelques sandflies (raquette ou autre), ou moustiquaire à une fenêtre au moins aurait été appréciée.

A great place to stay, we'll go back. Picturesque setting. Unique buildings. Owners are perfectly unobtrusive, but welcoming at the same time. Immediate access to the water if the surf's up. Loads to do in the adjacent countryside & city.

Schön eingerichtet und mit tollem Meerblick

Wir verbrachten zu zweit 1 Nacht hier in einer der Studio-Villas. Gleich nach Ankunft begrüßte uns der Eigentümer sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer ist großzügig bemessen mit vielen Glasflächen, um die wirklich schöne Aussicht genießen zu können. Es gibt neben dem Bett eine Küchenleiste inkl. Herdplatten, und einen Esstisch. Draußen steht ein Grill, der wohl auch von den Nachbarn benutzt werden kann. Infrastruktur in Form von Restaurants und Shops in unmittelbarer Nähe fehlen, dafür ist es eben sehr ruhig gelegen. Der zum Teil von Surfern genutzte Sandstrand ist gut zu erreichen und auch zum Baden geeignet. Der leicht höhere Preis rechtfertigt sich hier allein schon durch die Lage. Die Zimmer gefallen wie auch uns der gesamte Aufenthalt.
