This was an absolutely beautiful resort !!! It is definitely a 5 star resort.It is expensive but you get what you pay for. Everyone was just great and the atmosphere is really laid back. I would recommend this resort if you are looking for island luxury!

This place made our 5 year anniversary the most special trip ever. This was our 3rd time to Hawaii but first to Big. The staff was always helpful regarding resort or local activities and was always really friendly. They did some special stuff for us to make us feel even more welcome and to celebrate our anniversary. The resort felt very clean and they cleaned our room and gave us fresh towels several times a day. Browns and Hale Kai were particular standouts while the other restaurants offered some nice views. It’s a short 40 min to Kona, close to Waikoloa resort and village, close to Waimea and Hāwī. All in all, I don’t think I would consider staying anywhere else on Big.

What I liked the most about was the cleanness and hospitality of the staff working on the floor. What I didn’t like about it was the long check in process which took a while. We expected a faster check in with the baby but it simply didn’t happen and we had to wait until a room was available. There were no free umbrellas at the beach front. The chairs with the canopy were $175 each to rent for a day to stay out of the sun when not in the water.

Such a beautiful place to stay! Walking into the hotel and seeing the blue Pacific Ocean right in front of you was breathtaking. The hotel had gorgeous gardens all around the property. We enjoyed the complimentary snorkel equipment on the final day. The room service twice a day will definitely spoil you!

This resort is incredibly maintained and the staff is so courteous! The soft sand at the beach is a nice change of pace from the lava rock “sand” at other beaches on the Big Island. Fresh water dispensers are located throughout the resort- thank you!! The food is great at each restaurant. Recommendations: Could benefit from an additional hot tub!

This is a nice place to stay with it's own swimming cove perfect for snorkeling. We had a King room with a partial view. The listing said newly renovated, however this did not appear to include painting the bathroom or changing fixtures which appear out of date and worn but not an issue. The furnishings we good and housekeeping was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Partial ocean view from the room means very very partial. I am not sure we'd pay extra for partial again as we could only see the ocean from the balcony at a very specific angle. The grounds are good. Complete with a sweet cat running around and plenty of greenery and beautiful landscaping. The gym, pool, and hot tub are all fantastic and well maintained. The Brown's Beach House was not our most favorite meal on the island. Their website description and what they deliver just did not align. The view is great from the restaurant and it is convenient, however the food was basic and sevice just ok. Brown's deli was ok. For the ambience of the place this deli felt less inspired. There are pastries and coffee. Everyone on staff at the hotel was very nice. We'd stay here again. The location is really nice and close enough to easily drive to Waimea or Kona.

The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling.

Room was good size, door was sticky and a light did not work. It was fixed but stopped a few hours later. Great sunsets from all the restaurants. Spa was a nice experience. Snorkel rent is convenient. Grounds are lovely. Restaurants are expensive and the food is ok but not great. Room service is not available until 7:15 am. Menu says 6:30 but that’s when they start not when you can get food. There is a deli on the grounds that you can go to that opens earlier.

It’s a beautiful property with a nice pool and protected ocean cove for snorkeling. There’s not a lot close by but a great place to relax.
