A lovely small scale country hotel

A genuine and warm welcome received and numerous small touches of service from the owners, making a very pleasant stay. Great freshly cooked breakfasts. Handily placed for various walks and access to the Settle Carlisle railway line.

What a lovely place! Charming building, renovated with real care and attention to detail. Attentive and friendly hosts, fantastic food (sourdough pizza, made on site; breakfast featuring local produce), and very beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended!

Just perfect

Brownber Hall is truly wonderful. From the moment I walked up to the house from the beautiful garden with fantastic views of the Howgills I had a great impression of the place. It just got better. Peter and Amanda are lovely hosts and after a long walk I really appreciated the warm welcome, pot of tea and home made cake. The public rooms and bedrooms are very stylish, making the most of the original features of the Hall with a modern twist and fascinating artwork. My bedroom and bathroom were stylish, spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There’s fresh milk, fruit and an honesty bar on the landing, which is a nice touch. I was staying at the weekend so was able to try the sourdough pizzas in the evening. Mine was delicious as was the large fresh salad. The desserts sounded fantastic too but I was a bit full, so maybe next time. Breakfast followed the same pattern; quality ingredients, most of them locally sourced or homemade, and beautifully cooked. The coffee kept on coming too, thanks Peter! So, a beautiful place to stay with lovely hosts who’ve got everything right.

Perfect hotel

Where to begin? From the welcome, to the room, to the location, to the service, everything is spot on. Attentive without being too much, we really cannot fault anything here. Simply amazing.

Excellent service and Great atmosphere

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home. Peter explained everything we needed to know and showed us to our room which was lovely and cosy. He even drove us to pick up our car in the morning after leaving it at the pub which went the extra mile and was definitely appreciated! Will be coming back for sure.

First Class Hotel

Excellent Hotel. Extremely warm welcome - lovely hosts. Lovely rooms with comfy beds and furnishings. Breakfasts were fab and very accommodating, Extra added touches like the homemade cake and gentle music playing made it a very relaxing homely experience. Gorgeous area and the hotel has an amazing view. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Wonderful in every way

Wonderful in every way. The online reviews here and elsewhere are the best I have seen and now I have seen why. Totally recommended. The honesty bar was well stocked and great value. It was great to see local spirits and beers available. Fabulous breakfast. Everywhere clean and tastefully decorated.
