I ended up booking this hotel last minute after checking into a different hotel that was not clean and unsuitable to stay in. The staff were very friendly and the private room was just what I needed. I also used the laundry facilities which were clean and had three machines available.

The hotel is dated, Japan 1970/Deco, and the rooms/bathrooms are small. Reception staff's ability in English is limited. The location may be central but not appealing. We overnighted for the Naoshima ferry. A better choice for this purpose is JR Clement which is across the street from the ferry and the station.
