Kuala Lumpur for 4 nights
A nice walk to the local train about 20 minutes
Nice view from on our room and the breakfast area -
Very poor service of our room, we even ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for it at reception, a nice clean place but where are the cleaners?

To be fair this isn't a problem just with this hotel, but with hotels in Malaysia and South East Asia in general.
Basically many of the amenities advertised on the Expedia listing were either not available or didn't even exist. This included: the pool- closed for maintenance, room WIFI (couldn't connect on my phone or the hotel staff's phone, they apologized but wouldn't do anything about it), the gym didn't even exist.
These are pretty major things to claim about the listing and not have. Obviously I asked for a discount and they said the manager would get back to me, which he obviously never did.
Despite these problems the room was clean and comfortable.
One other negative- there were usually 3-4 security guards at a desk in the middle of the lobby that often stared at me when I walked past. I felt a bit like they were prison guards that didn't really want me to get past.

Breakfast significantly poor...
Really slow check-in eventhough no other people in queue. Changed access card twice. Waited 2 hours for maintenace guy bcoz no TV signals. Quantity of food during breakfast is ridiculously low... always short. I pity family that comes in after 9am especially with children and hungry stomach.
Otherwise good place to stay with family during work trips.

I don't really know that Scholar's Inn and Regency Scholar's Hotel are two separate hotel, although at first I thought Scholar's Inn which is owned by UTM was handed over to Regency, it seems that they're in two separate building which are separated around 200-300 metres away. That should be put somewhere in the notes for the advertisement.
The room is new, but not that clean as I could feel the dust when I checked in. It's not that bad, it just that it's not super clean as well - just so and so.
I couldn't complain much as the rental fee is relatively cheap, but not the cheapest since at the same price I could get a similar standard accommodation with a breakfast of two in KL (yes!).
