I don’t understand how this place is an 8/10. We arrived around midnight to check-in. I stood at the window for 10 minutes before a non English speaking older gentleman addressed me. Mind you, when I initially approached the window he looked at me and turned around and left. He came back about 3-4 minutes later and started writing in a book then walked away again. Ok I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was finishing up a task before assisting me. He left again. Then I thought well maybe he isn’t the check-in clerk. I seen an intercom button and speaker to the left of me so I pushed it once like a door bell and nothing, so I pushed it again and said hello. 2 minutes later he walks to the window and I told him I was checking in. He gave me the paperwork and kept saying “no smoking.” He handed me the key and said “elevator, third floor.” When I asked him where the elevator is located he pointed his finger, but that sure didn’t help any. Now to the room…There were cockroaches in the bathroom. The mattress was brick hard and had a plastic wrapping under the sheets so I heard crackling with every movement. The room lights are a weird garage led color. My room window was located in front of a bright street light and the window shutters didn’t help much. The walls are paper thin. The A/C was cold but smelled extremely musty. Very basic room, no dresser or drawers to put my clothes in. There is a microwave and semi working mini refrigerator that was extremely loud.

Simple, modern, clean room. Staff was nice. WiFi was not connecting properly so I had to use my hotspot to watch streaming services . At night I was hearing noise from the street ( cars zooming down the street) continuously which was bothersome for me personally. I also heard my neighbors arguing one night and playing their music the next night so I’m guessing the walls are thin and noise travels easily. Overall the place did its thing.

The room was clean and renovated, close to many big chain stores like Walmart, Ross, Marshall’s, Macy’s, JcPenny, HomeGoods and many more, Downey Inn is located in the heart of Downey, was there for 5 nights, I would stay there again. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful.

My stay wasn’t good nor bad . The bed was hard with no covers . The A/C makes to much noises. For some reason middle of the night the lights kept turning on . Kept having to wake up multiple times to turn it off. Wish they had other options for TV . Other than that everything was good.
