Wonderful rooftop lounge area with a great view of the Hollywood sign! Great location next to many bus stops so its easy to get around/back to! Friendly staff and it was great to be able to meet other guests from all over the world!

The property had really nice common areas and in general all areas such as bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas were always clean. The rooms were a little noisy at night due to car noise from the street.

I traveled early so I needed a place to crash for 1 night. As a solo black lesbian, i really try to find places that seem comfortable to me. I would definitely book here again. The staff is so helpful and courteous. I never felt out of place. I did a mixed room with 5 others and everyone was quiet, polite and neat overall.

I liked everything is this property because it was safe, convenient location, all people whom were as guest were friendly, respectful, cool atmosphere, clean, and more. I enjoyed the breakfast there it was a nice suprise from the hostel side Healthy and yummy. They have detailed my name ready on the bed that belonged for my stay that was a nice detail. Mostly the clean area and also the receptionist lady was very cool and helpful, even she helped me with information about the public transportation for Santa Monica and Airport. And I could not say something that I didn't like it from this hostel i just can say good things. Thank you very much.

For the price, Melrose Hostel is a wonderful spot if you need an affordable place to stay that‘s relatively central to LA / Hollywood. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating of anything I might have needed. The hostel was also very clean and the staff cleans the place everyday so I never had to worry about that. IMO the best part of the hostel is the roof, amazing views of the city and the Hollywood sign. There‘s enough restaurants, lunch spots, coffee, etc around the hostel to find food options. I never thought that my stuff or person was unsafe given the neighborhood but I do recommend bringing locks as just as precaution if you‘re unfamiliar with hostel life. Thank you Melrose for a great time!

This property has a friendly vibe to the place, accommodating staff but mostly a breakfast that is presented everyday. I wish that I was able to take a picture of the beautiful set up for the breakfast. There are an array of choices.

Quietest hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s on a busy street that can be a little noisy but the hostel itself is really peaceful. Great free breakfast and coffee that I didn’t notice mentioned on their listing. Might not be the right place for you if you’re looking to meet a lot of people or party but otherwise fantastic.

Amazing stay

The room is really big and clean daily. All the staffs are so friendly and helpful and chill. Male shower is small but hot water comes out immediately and stay hot which is nice. And a lot of bathrooms so there’s always a empty one you can use! It’s a nice area a lot of food places close by and grocery store. But need to take bus to metro. Free coffee in the morning!!! Big plus. Kitchen got everything you need to cook. Rooftop is really nice to just chill. Free ear plug at reception is a live life saver cause I got roommates that snores 😵‍💫 Would definitely stay again!

This property was just okay, the positive was that is was cheap. The staff were quiet odd, they made out like any question or request was an inconvenience. They request that you let them know if you will be checking in after 6pm as they are only staffed (which I later found wasn't the case, the place was staffed at all times) until that time and alternative arrangements would be made for check-in (they charge your credit card and give you the pin codes to enter the property, if you arrive before 6pm they charge you when you arrive and see the staff member) a person I shared one of the rooms with had told me that they checked in before 6pm, however, were informed there card had already been charged which seemed a little dodgy. There are no elevators in this property which may not seem like a big deal until you have to carry all your luggage up and down the staircase they have which can be dangerous. The pin code locks to the rooms were very temperamental when trying to open them which was very time consuming sometimes and it also makes a lot of noise probably waking up others in your room. This hostel is also in a fairly dodgy area as well but you can easily walk to places such as Hollywood etc
