Great location, very peaceful. The staff gave us an amazing welcome, very friendly & accommodating. The food was to a very high standard however slightly inconsistent, some items where different night to night, woul highly recommend.
Really happy with our choice! The whole area was very beautiful, filled with palmtrees and colorful flowers. Breakfast was always really good, while the lunch and dinner could vary a bit, but mostly good - and a whole lot better than all the other food we had in Tanzania. The employees were friendly and helpful. We fully recommend the Mnemba tour - go early in the morning (!) and the extra money is well spent as it ensures you get the away from other tourists. The resort has a great view for sunrise, but you have to go to ex. Nungwi or Kendwa for the sunset, which we did!
The Sevi Hotel was the perfect place to go after 9 days on safari. The beautiful gardens, the pools, the big rooms and comfy beds, the hammock on our deck, made it such a relaxing time. We had 2 fabulous spa treatments and the food is amazing and healthy. The beach scene is non stop entertainment with the locals coming and going. But the best part was the attentive staff. Really such beautiful people working there and we felt cared for in every way. Thank you Sevi for the amazing week!
We had the best stay ever! And we have been to a number of other resorts during a few longer periods of both work & holiday in Zanzibar.
SeVi is definetly the Number One place we have visited. (Also of other places in world!) The atmosphere, the bungalows - and the surroundings both by the pool and restaurant. Stunning!! So nice, clean and quiet. And - the wonderfull people in the staff! The hospitality and service is excellent. The beach is cleaned for seeweed in the mornings just for us to enjoy. Everything is perfect!
They even helped my now fiancée to prepare for a wedding proposal during one of the evening dinners. So this will be «our place» for now. And we will definitely come back!
Thank you <3
We booked 5 days in the SeViBoutique to relax after Safari. Usually we would not spend our holidays on Zanzibar. SeVi Boutique: excellent!!! Very polite, friendly, respectful personal. Mindfulness is the keyword. Our seaview bungalow was a great place to rest. The complete SeViground is tropical, beautiful, well gardened. The food is fantastic. An example: you get your your Cappucino from a good Italian Machine, you can choose between cowmilk or Soyamilk. That gives an impression of the place… Prices like normal European prices.
We have been on the Malediven numerous times. It remembered us of good Malediven Ressorts. Of course you are in Africa…
The bungalow has a good aircondition, there is a really big Moskitonetz over the bed. Not so close and small that the air feels compressed. There is also an ventilator inside the moscitonet we didn’t use.
You can not swim in the ocean! The water on this side of the island is to shallow. Swim in the pool. We rented our own car at the airport and made two trips to Kendwa for swimming and enjoying the turquoise ocean but always left after two hours. There are many people, music, party etc. We spent very relaxing days at SeVi, meditating, reading, making Yoga at our bungalow.
When you enter the beach, at SeVi and other places you will get immediately contacted by locals who want to sell you something. That may be annoying. It is the Indian Ocean but not the Maledives. If Zanzibar, this would be our place again!
We really wanted to write a positive review about this hotel as we stayed here for the end of our honeymoon. The majority of our experience would not justify that.
Positives
-The hotel grounds look beautiful.
-The restaurant is great and the staff are wonderful. This really was the saving grace of our time here. I have an allergy to gluten and garlic, and the restaurant and kitchen staff took amazing care during our stay.
-The kitchen was exceptionally clean every time we walked past.
-Kissa reception, Salum, John, Masoud, Rashid were exceptionally helpful. This
Negatives
-Our Garden Bungalow backed onto the village. This meant we were woken up by cockerels, cows and people shouting from at least 5am every morning. Some mornings, 4am. This carried on throughout the day until 9-10pm at night. Our sleep was terrible whilst we were there and left our honeymoon feeling exhausted.
-We asked to be moved to a new room 3 times. The staff on reception simply told us this would not possible even though we saw people checking in and out most days.
-We asked for a solution to the problem. The man on reception said he would pass it on to management. We said we were looking forward to hearing from them. We heard nothing.
-In the room the towels were tatty, the mosquito nets had holes in and sink did not drain properly even after we requested it to be fixed by maintenance. The bungalow overall was very tired.
-We had mice trying to visit our room. See pictures below.

Liked: Amenities
Disliked: Cleanliness
My wife and I have just left Sevi after 4 nights. These are my thoughts :
lovely setting on the beach & great views
friendly and smiley staff (front desk, gardeners, waitressing staff)
welcoming tour and drink
rooms are nicely decorated
good massages in the spa
housekeeping service
-> For an expensive hotel (£250 a night) we would have expected better from the following:
- comfort of beds (a personal preference but the beds were very hard)
- the light from the AC was very bright and so sleeping would be difficult for light sleepers
- level of service in restaurant (wrong drinks brought out, no one to take drink orders around the pool, eggs not cooked to order)
- food was disappointing based on previous reviews and compared to cheaper, local restaurants. Because of this we only ate dinner here once and instead had lovely meals down the beach.
- cleanliness of the swimming pools - large number of dead mosquitos
- approach road VERY bumpy
- the water pressure was not great. One afternoon the bathroom shower cut out; thankfully there was an outside shower we could use.
This place has LOADS of potential; thank you for an overall good stay!
It was an amazing experience.. No words to describe it.

Video photography of property is not even close to what is the trail out of this property.
The staff are excellent. Dainess is a very professional person who went the distance to assist. However the property is letting down everyone as it is not clean, on going building and overall poor presentation. There are no windows and therefor allows access to mosquitos and ants that we found on the bed. The surrounding area is shocking and very poor. It makes you want to go back home the minute you arrive
