Be awed by the remarkable legacy of the Ancient Romans as you stroll around the colossal structure that has towered over Segovia’s Old Town for 2,000 years.

This 14th-century tower was built during a period of feuding by the local nobility. Towers went up all over town - I imagine it must have looked something like San Gimignano does today - until Ferdinand and Isabel gained enough control in the 15th century to force many of the families to lop off their towers. Look for their stubby remains all over town.

In later years this tower was used as an armory, and today it hosts the occasional art exhibit.
