Cosy cottage in a great location.

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage, in a great location. Spacious and warm, with great facilities.

Fantastic cottage above a great pub!

This is a lovely cottage which is surprisingly spacious. There are 2 good sized bedrooms, as well as a nice living and kitchen area and big bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay here, everything was spot on, very clean and nice little unexpected extras too. Thoroughly recommended. Pub is recommended too - they do an excellent penang curry and have huge selection of ciders and ales too. We found parking over the river in Redbrook the best option as we arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon and parking is limited Boat Inn side.

A real stay in the country

There's no doubt that The Boat Inn is a lovely, traditional pub in a super location, right on the banks of the Wye with good views of the river from the bedrooms above the pub. The surroundings are wooded and distinctly bosky, which is nice. There is a small village (Redbrook) with a village shop a few hundred metres away across an old railway bridge. The Boat serves excellent food, but only on certain days - Thursday to Sunday, from memory. BUT beware of the journey there, from the main roads: the roads are exceptionally narrow but well maintained. There are two ways into the actual village (Penallt). I soon learned to ignore the satnav and to follow the signs on the road nearby: that route is a bit easier. Of course, you can always park in the village car park across the bridge (Redbrook): it's only a couple of hundred metres away. The accommodation is old-fashioned, comfortable and accessible up some slightly dodgy stone steps at the side of the pub. There's a private terrace although (when we were there) somewhat overgrown - and you can't see the river from the terrace, just the hills and woods around. Still nice, though. Locals and staff are really friendly and helpful. Quiz night is Wednesday. It's a great stay.

Peaceful, relaxing short break on river Wye

Solid building, spacious apartment, great views of the river(&bridge),from both bedrooms. Discreet terrace on an upper level, with firepit. Despite being above the pub itself, virtually no noise at all. Great going to sleep & waking up to the sound of the river Wye. Very helpful host 👍
