My family of three traveled to the Riu Palace Montego Bay for one week. We enjoyed our time together and got lucky with the weather. For reference, this was our 4th time to Jamaica, just not this location. In addition, we have stayed at RIU's in other countries. I would say the RIU Palace in Montego Bay was average and not worth the money. The pros were the friendliness of staff, cleanliness, firm matress, stocked mini bar, food served at the Italian restaurant, and I also appreciated the smaller size of the resort. The neutral part was the buffet, the other restaurants, the beach (small and sand is imported so not soft) and night time entertainment. The negative was overall the hotel decor needs updated. The door to our room was warped so we had to pry it open every time. We only had one chair on our patio despite me asking twice for them to bring another one, with no response, and the surrounding area had very little to offer. The entertainment staff worked hard and really tried to connect with the people but their activities were not inclusive. I asked each day if a group of us could play water volleyball and was told it only happened on Saturdays, which was the day we were leaving. Instead we listened to the same genre of music every day and watched as every activity turned into a twerk contest. I think it would be a good thing for them to remember they have guests of all ages and backgrounds. One great highlight worth mentioning however was the morning catamaran.
