Service was amazing, even the reception lobby is lovely. The staff was always attentive, the breakfast is out of this world, best breakfast ever in a hotel. The fireside area with pizzas and wine/cocktails was amazing and the Foray restaurant adjunct to the hotel is great. The beds were perfect, coffee maker in the room. My only complaint will be the ac was timed and at night I couldn't fix the temperature to my preference. But everything was on point. I will definitely stay again!

This hotel was brand new with beautiful rooms and finishes - very modern but cozy. With the exception of one staff member who was very irritated and rude when we (politely) asked if early check in was available. Otherwise, when we finally arrived, all the remainder of the staff were incredibly welcoming and super friendly. The free breakfast is incredible! Seated in a quaint but beautiful breakfast room, you can choose to eat inside or outdoors by the fire they have going near cozy seating. The breakfast dishes are served like small tapas plates. They are beautifully plated, and portion sizes allow you to choose a variety of items and feel satisfied and ready for an active day without overeating. I couldn’t believe that level of service and quality of breakfast was free! This is an incredible hotel in the very charming Carmel by the sea downtown - with walking distance to a variety of boutiques, incredible upscale restaurants, tasting rooms, art galleries and just a few blocks from the ocean. Would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone who values a nice, fresh modern place to stay with great service and thoughtful touches throughout the entire guest experience.

First rate experience! The location is walking distance to a ton of great bars and restaurants. Arrived with complimentary Champaign. The service was amazing. They had a pizza oven and great cheese plates as well as awesome selection of local wines! The rooms have all the bells and whistles. Then to end they had a complimentary breakfast that was exceptional. Will be staying here for every trip to Carmel/Monterey!

Our stay at the Stilwell Hotel was absolutely amazing! The property is elegant and beautiful, the staff was extremely attentive, our room was immaculate, and the breakfast buffet was an absolute delight, served beautifully for guests to enjoy either indoors or around the outdoor fire pits and water features. It’s also very conveniently located in walking distance to the shops and restaurants. I would absolutely recommend and hope to be back someday!

I think there is a discrepancy between the photos online and what you get when you are there. This place feels like a motel, the rooms are small, the walls are thin, the staffs are kids doing summer jobs, they don't specially care about the customers, the breakfast room is what look like a meeting room with random tables put in, on the good side nothing is terribly bad, the bathroom are new and bed comfortable but the price is like a luxury resort, which it is definitely not. Also I was a bit surprised they charged me an extra $50 because our 7 year old daughter was with us, maybe it's Carmel thing... not sure, I think at the price of the room they can let a kid sleep without a random extra charge. Sorry I wanted to like it, but they need to either decrease the price or increase the level somehow, I will look for another place next time I'm in Carmel
