Monterey Wine Country, California hotel rooms at the Independent

"It’s our first time staying at this place and it’s a welcome surprise. The place felt like a vintage glamping spot. A place to get active and unplug. There’s no tv in the rooms or a hair dryer but there’s wifi and the room is clean and bathroom fixtures are old but is working. We were assigned rooms in separate houses. The rooms are spacious and have a 70’s vibe. There’s a common area with a big refrigerator, microwave and board games. The grounds invite you to hike since a big property and the beach is accessible nearby. Our stay includes breakfast with standard selections but a big serving. Overall I enjoyed it and think of coming back soon."

"The property was new and clean. We had issues with the outlets in our room, they stopped working mid-trip but maintenance was able to fix them. The only staff member I'll highlight was Joe the bar manager. He went above and beyond to make sure our experience at the bar/restaurant was perfect. His employees on the other hand were very rude. We were treated very poorly by some of the bar staff."

"Maintenance needs to be done on balconies and some bathrooms. There is wood rot on patios and in our bathroom. The toilets were damn near on the floor. I suggest updating."
